Vince Carter is in town for an event to rededicate a community outdoor basketball court that his foundation built in 2003 at Dixon Park on Friday afternoon.
The mall, the aquarium, the museum. Vince Carter is everywhere.
The 47-year-old Basketball Hall of Famer was honoured by the Raptors on Friday, and a number of his iconic jerseys were displayed at locations across ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½. It signalled a welcome back to the city for the former all-star who played a pivotal role in promoting basketball in the country.
The court has been overhauled to add colourful features, new lighting and fresh hoops for local youth. The MLSE Foundation and City of ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ also used the $1-million investment to improve two nearby courts and add two half-courts at a nearby playground.

ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ residents saw Carter’s No. 15 purple jersey hanging at the Princes’ Gates at Exhibition Place, BMO Field, the Royal Ontario Museum, Union Station clock tower, Maple Leaf Square, Ripley’s Aquarium, Eaton Centre and the Distillery District among other spots.
The Raptors have already announced plans to make Carter’s jersey the first in franchise history to be retired — and hung from the Scotiabank Arena rafters — with a ceremony on Nov. 2, when DeMar DeRozan and the Sacramento Kings will be in town to play that night.
