Opinion | Börje Salming was the soul of the Leafs. He overcame so much

For 16 years, Hall of Fame defenceman Börje Salming, who died of ALS at age 71, played and competed and endured with the Maple Leafs. As great as he was, he could have been ever greater with a better supporting case.


When we first came to know him, Börje Salming represented class, athletic talent and bravery.

When we last saw him, he represented humanity, how frail and unfair this earthly existence can be.
