A collision between a garbage truck and transport truck in Mississauga Thursday afternoon has left one driver, a woman, dead, and the other driver critically injured.
A woman is dead and a man seriously injured following a crash between a garbage truck and tractor trailer in Mississauga, Peel Regional Police report.
The crash happened just before 2:30 p.m. Thursday, near the intersection of Derry Road and Goreway Drive.
The drivers of both vehicles were rushed to hospital where the garbage-truck driver died of her injuries, according to police. The driver of the transport truck has critical, life-threatening injuries.

Police have closed all lanes of traffic on Derry Road from Goreway Drive to west of Hwy. 427 while collision and forensic teams investigate.Â
Police said it was too early to determine if speed was a factor. “We are looking at all of the possibilities right now about what may have caused this collision,†said Const. Moulika Sharma.

Mississauga fire services also attended the scene, and the Ministry of Labour was alerted due to the collision involving two trucks.Â
