A collision between a garbage truck and transport truck in Mississauga Thursday afternoon has left one driver, a woman, dead, and the other driver critically injured.
A woman is dead and a man seriously injured following a crash between a garbage truck and tractor trailer in Mississauga, Peel Regional Police report.
The crash happened just before 2:30 p.m. Thursday, near the intersection of Derry Road and Goreway Drive.
The drivers of both vehicles were rushed to hospital where the garbage-truck driver died of her injuries, according to police. The driver of the transport truck has critical, life-threatening injuries.

Images show the two mangled vehicles by a sidewalk just outside an apartment building; the road scattered with debris. Peel police said it appears that the two trucks were the only vehicles involved in the collision.Â
Police have closed all lanes of traffic on Derry Road from Goreway Drive to west of Hwy. 427 while collision and forensic teams investigate.Â
Police said it was too early to determine if speed was a factor. “We are looking at all of the possibilities right now about what may have caused this collision,†said Const. Moulika Sharma.
Sharma asked that anyone who was in the area between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., and who may have seen anything or have dash-cam video, to  If anyone wants to remain anonymous, they can call Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
Mississauga fire services also attended the scene, and the Ministry of Labour was alerted due to the collision involving two trucks.Â
